History Behind The Name Empty
PostSubject: History Behind The Name   History Behind The Name EmptyTue Nov 18, 2014 4:12 pm

Kohana was the name of a tribe back many years ago, an organized, developing canine retreat formed across the landscape of southern Nebraska. There were two leaders that controlled that area; Koko and Bonita. The two were founders over the land for about a year and a half, crossing borders with their own kind and giving birth for the next generation. Their litters were large and eventually they allowed them to stay and thrive as the area was plentiful in prey, however, predators on the charts sky-rocketed as more wolves roamed. Koko and Bonita were committed leaders, protecting and nurturing their young, providing support and lessons upon an everyday battle for survival and yet with successful minds were successful wolves that abide to their leadership respectfully. Kohana, the name was the meaning of "swift", a pack without a doubt.

A year later the two companions went for a hunt, their bellies hungry and yet the harsh season was approaching them and they urgently needed to survive and find the closest herds that migrated north. it wasn't long until they approached the river, small deer have migrated there instead of the bison that roamed. Stepping through the fallen debris, the two have traced out an ambush, their mouth watering with warm saliva, drool dangling the side of their lower maws as they  surveyed for weaker game, unnoticed. Arriving to join them was their one year old son and heir, Akecheta to review his parents techniques while hiding in the shadows was his siter, Enola, who seemed distracted by the leafs that danced around her and her siblings silently before she was nipped to watch by their father. The two sat quietly in the brush where the deer wouldn't be able to harm them, but yet the parents made sure their young were safe from bears and other threatening lurking creatures. Another arriving wolf came to view and the two paused before making an entrance into the exposure. "Dyane..." a voice so soft and cheerful padded over to Koko and greeted with a nudge. Kanti was the mothers oldest daughter who strayed the longer and was the oldest of her younger brother and sister. There were now three adults and a small deer in the meadows, away from the others, the wolves knew they would start a frenzy of stampeding hooves and the danger their future would be in, Kanti strayed back to her siblings and laid next to them intrigued. Off went the companions and the deer instantly scattered frantically, but almost in a group, excluding any youngsters that strayed from their mother, but the two aimed for one of the deer nearby.

There was chaos everywhere, bellowing deer and a bull that headed towards the male that ambushed one of the females, slicing the wolfs side with the sharp rack. Yelps and whines were combined with growls and yet Koko managed to recover from his fall and proceed with haste. Bonita brought down he deer but fumbled and was also caught off-guard by the aggressive bull that charged, snaps and snarls aired the atmosphere and Koko took demand and weakened the fawn to the point of Bonita following behind and the bull chasing after. However as the female collapsed the two wolves circled the male and lured him into the clearing. Kanti escaped from the adolescents to provide support and chased the scent of the fallen deer to commence it's death momentarily; a howl towards the pack as the leaders managed to safely return and alongside their youths. kanti backed away and stood guard over the little ones and from any other bull that hasn't been sighted yet but remained in the clearing. Eyes have darted side to side and the parents ate to their fill, only to relax and clean any wounds that were exposed.

Weeks have passed and the male leader caught an infection on his neck, throbbing with searing pain the male was stiffened, weak and limp. Nothing else was needed to do and the mother, Bonita stayed by his side but the leader took no interest to eat or even move, his body laid heavily amongst the ground, unable to lift his own weight and paws. "There's nothing we can do..." Kanti exclaimed as she approached her weakened and sickened father. "He would need a proper burial..." a voice escaped and as heads turned, Bonita made her presence known by standing up as she no longer could hear the breath of her beloved, "we'll...drag him to the river...that's where my father was buried...next to the Kimi river". Bonita finished and pressed her head down against his with a quick lick and a whisper before pressing her nose under his nape and her fore paws stretched underneath until his body was dangling across her back. "Oof..", she exaggerated a bit, but managed to let her body carry her husband, his head hangs off her right as his legs dangle her left and she turned with providied help from the others towards he river. As the sun began to set over the horizon, the wolves all covered in debris, moisture and mud, the male leader was laying in a dip of the mud, cascaded with flowers that were shooken from the heads of the members. "You will be missed...great leader..father...and a loving companion. You and I had a great journey but it's time for you to rest peacefully", dropping the pedals over his ivory, sandy coat, Bonita started to press the dirt and mud over his pigment, along with Kanti doing the favor for the rest as other members mumbled their farewells. As bodies turned and trekked back to the packs den, the mother eventually passed away a month before her own young have left, however, their heir was the new leader and he as well allowed the generation to thrive, with a large litter of 6 wolves, their story lies in waiting.
